In today's fast moving business environment, applications must be easier to maintain and enhance than ever before. One important but over-looked feature of maintainable applications is conformance to standards. If every component looks the same and works the same, then the complete application becomes easier to maintain and enhance.
Kickstart makes it easy to establish and maintain consistent standards and ensure compliance with an application architecture.
All names are derived from the database schema and named consistently. Once you set your type prefix standards they will be used in all code generated by Kickstart. Professional programmers will conform to the naming standards that see in the code that they work with.
Forms and objects all work the same way. Once a programmer is familiar with the architecture of a standard generated object, they can work just as productively with other objects, including heavily customized forms.
Scripted components tend to be more complete and robust than custom written components because they must cover more cases. For example, a database table maintenance component should deal with the case where the user deletes the last row in a recordset and respond appropriately. Custom written applications often ignore this situation or treat it as a cannot happen case.
